If you want a real treat, check out John and Bill (yes, Giese and Andres) live, at Scottsdale's Parada del Sol, Saturday, Feb. 24th. They've been announcing on the corner of Scottsdale and Indian School for around 20 years or so, now. The magic is still there, they're hilareous!

Other KSLX alums that announce at the Parada include Tony Evans, Jeanne Sedello, Andy Olson and yours truly!

Wouldn't it make sense to put a guy like Giese on an FM talk station like KTAR? No offense to the out of towner they hired, but Aunt Carlos did an hour on how many grams of fat are in food, then another hour on how the guy who bought his house ripped him off because he demanded his pool table and other possessions. I swear, it sounds like they hooked up his brain to McMahon's and now it's a younger sounding McMahon from 8:30 to noon.

Pat did some absolutely stunning radio yesterday--he talked about what you're doing for Valentine's Day... Phew! That's an original topic, what's next? What places will you be dining at on Valentine's Day......... oh wait, they did that too. Good stuff KTAR, keep it up and you'll be in a dog fight with FREE-FM for ratings... ouch.

Even better today! Mrs. Aunt Carlos defending the war in Iraq. Sounded like KTAR was auditioning her. Maybe they figure Mr. and Mrs. Aunt Carlos will be better than just Aunt Carlos. KFYI needs to bring back the "not your grandfather's station" commercials. KTAR FM is a disappointment to me. Hire John Giese!

Aunt Carlos is pretty dreadful, I noticed he rarely takes calls disagreeing with him, and when he does, he dodges and weaves away into some other topic so he can turn the disagreement back on the caller.

Its a pretty lame argumentation strategy, one that your high school teacher would grade you poorly on.

I noticed whenever he gets beat in an argument, he trots out the flag and tries to make the caller seem like he hates the flag.

(Ankarlo also hates any bad talk about him on this board, he reads it all the time)

I have heard him take a few calls that disagree with him. I find it amusing when he uses Wikipedia as a source for his side of the argument... "just look it up on Wikipedia". If you have to go to Wikipedia--you know you're in a bit over your head. I'm sure Auntie Carlos is a decent guy, but I'm guessing Dead Simons is a little upset that someone stole his "personality" and I'm guessing he wants it back.

Of course he reads this board, it's sandwiched between kissing up to the management and the five minutes of show prep he does.

LOL!!! Using Wikipedia for anything without a HUGE asterisk is ridiculous...anyone with a computer can change anything on that site they want!!

Trust me...I learned the hard way on-the-air citing Wikipedia...you're taking a risk gambling on something that unreliable!! :'(

KTAR FM is a disappointment to me.

In a word: It Sucks!

Morning news presentation is solid...Aunt Carlos at 8:30am makes sense, but a lot of his topics don't. The noon news is dreadful, but a great way to bury Paul Harvey. McBland is an embarassment. The afternoon news sounds like something you'd see on 3TV with Patti & Bev. 7-Mid is juevenille. Larry King is senile. And why hasn't Jim Bohanon retired by now? The Nurse and I give News 92~three, where Hip Hop used to live, a solid D+ for presentation. TMISU can certainly do better!

I don't know much about this, but maybe the company that owns KTAR doesn't want anybody to rock the boat, whereas KFYI's doesn't care about riling up folks. Don't know how else to explain it. Well, lesser talent maybe.
