Count on it being jockless outside of morning drive.Think about it.Citadel's past failed format attempts were not jockless (The Hawk,Z100) but were staffed locally. The well is dry locally in terms of decent on the beach talent and there may be some djs outside Providence who are working who would hesitate to make the jump anyway given that they would be going to a station with an uncertain future.

Other than a good decision like hiring someone like Big John Bina for mornings for whatever the format ends up as and giving him a newsperson I will predict a jockless station.

If it is another jockless station without a budget of any sort - remember the Hawk, Z-100, etc. - then the station is doomed to failure. Something tells me it will not be country. Most would agree that Boston is a similar market in terms of demographics. Remember when Boston briefly had two country stations - WKLB (which still exists) at 105.7 (now at 99.5) and 96.9 WBCS. The market could not support two country stations, and both ultimately fell under the same ownership umbrella. 105.7 became WROR, which it remains today. With a powerhouse station in the Providence market such as WCTK, I doubt any research would recommend a second country station in the market.

Cital New London CT made the switch to an FM News/Talk a few months back. I don't see why 99.7 couldn't, or shouldn't, do the same. Does SKO still run Bill O'Reilly at midnight? A few years back they used to run him in the middle of the afternoon, on the market's then only sports station, for some reason.

Any kind of News/Talk station would draw listeners from Citadel-owned WPRO, so while I think RI would benefit from such a station, I do not think it will happen.

I think it should be a Hot Talk Station. The lineup should include:
John and Jeff,Mancow, Don and Mike, Tom Leykis, Phil Hendre, Loveline, and All Comedy Radio.
