I'm a little more fortunate here in Fairfied, can pull in all NYC stations as well as a good portion of the LI stations including the Bone and Even WLIR at times, and of course the boring local CT stations, WEBE, Star and The Fox. The only local frequency with any rock variety seems to be 95.1....FOX, PLR have very limited playlists.

That's one hell of a catch for a 10 watt translator.

They have one hell of a signal on Long Island as well.......

That's too funny, I listen to PLR almost always, and coming home tonight I noticed that they play the same couple dozen of songs, over and over, and over...

I usually end up switching between WRKI 95.1 and WLIR 107.1, but in the New Haven area, 107.1 gets cut out by, what I think, is a local classical station.

I really liked when 107.1 was "The Box" but that didn't last too long. It seems like none of the good formats stick around these days.

That's a New Haven translator operated by WJMJ-FM 89.9 of Hartford. It's run out of the Saint Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield near the Hartford line. They seem to play more "beautiful" music than anything else. It's a non-commercial religious station and carries ABC News at the top of the hour. As for signals getting stepped on, you're not kidding. I intentionally left my Sony Walkman on WCCC-FM 106.9 of Hartford last month while taking a short Amtrak ride from Berlin to Union Station in New Haven. The interference was first prevalent due to the West Peak overload between Silver Lake and the Meriden train station. It then got stepped on by the 107.1 station in the southern end of North Haven.

I notice the same thing when I occasionally take the vermonter. CCC I can catch on amtrak all the way up in northern mass. but forget about it at union station.
p.s. sony panasonic walkmans and sangean pocket radios are the way to go!

I can't get 95.1 in old greenwich. 96.7 cross channels it too much. I wish wrki could get another relay in stamford. (they could pick up a hell of a lot of listeners) do you know what keeps them from getting one?

Just to nitpick, "Walkman" is a Sony trademark! Seriously, Sony is not always quality. While the FM tuner on my old Sony tape Walkman is great, it was awful on a AM/FM CD player I had from them...for two days. I use an AM/FM CD player "persoanl stereo" from Panasonic now it is considerably better. I've already used it in Portland, Boston, Providence, NYC and Philadelphia. It's no better for the signal overload from the Prudential Tower stations in downtown Boston. I seem to have little trouble if I leave either Walkman/persoanl stereo on WQHT-FM 97.1 ("Hot 97") while in Manhattan.<P ID="signature">______________
