What's A Talk Junkie To Do?

The Nurse and I are packin' up for our vacation double wide in Milpitas as morning talk on Valley radio has sunk to a new low. This week it's Barry "they must be paying me by the word" Markson for the Nearly Bald One on KFYI. This must be part of Young's contract to have his shift covered by the lamest person available. Over at KT'R, it's Pat "you've only got 10 seconds caused I've hogged all the time" McBland. And his attempt at local humor only makes us wish The Men In Secret Underwear would have kept in retirement. We can't take it anymore, so Nurse Jeff and I will be gone for a while. Try to sort all this out while we're away.

I'll forward you the air checks from McBland, to your double-wide in Milpitas. Maybe his humor will be more relevant in a trailer. Who knows? If that doesn't work, do the following:

-Find a Coppenhagen store (or just a can of coppenhagen)
-Eat some seared ahi tuna from PF Changs (or just some 'nuked chunk tuna)
-Stare at a Ladmo Bag
-Keep a copy of Phoenix Magazine close by
-Say "Duffy" a few times while you are talking to someone
-Pretend your retired and love listening

That is guaranteed to enhance the McBland experience. It does for me!

Did you hear him endlessly prattle about his big airport experience?

He flew from Vegas to Phoenix, and acted as if he was a passenger on Lindbergh's solo flight.

Of course, it was all about Pat.

::)

I thought he covered it for the NBC-Red network. Wasn't he the guy
shown blabbing into the WEAF mic in all the newsreel footage from
Roosevelt Field?

Of course he almost didn't get the interview--first he had to finish the
live read for P.F. Ciana's Italian Bistro in Brooklyn.

Despite the disdain for "McBland", you folks sure seem to tune in frequently…

…granted, between the boldly farcical one and the stylings of Gerald, slim talk tunings in the Valley.

But with the internets, a plethora of worldwide streams and podcasts galore…

You could always turn on the Triplets on Free FM. Talk radio is borrrring on the am dial boys and girls

I try to listen to everything.

McBland is like a train wreck, you have to listen for the humor.

We junkies have to tune in, even if what we hear is out of tune. Until KTAR launches its new greatness...::)...I have been toting a few CD's in the car. Though Motown is my all-time favorite, a song I heard on KOOL inspired me to dust off my two-CD-set Three Dog Night. Jeremiah, the bullfrog, has been fulfilling my nostalgic quest better than Gerald, the brat. :p

I have several hundreds of hours of Hendrie on MP3, the old good stuff before the FCC started neutering anyone.

So when will KOOL have another Motown Weekend?

Wait a minute.
Motown weekend...oldies station.
Isn't that redundant?

Although I will give them credit that during their last one
I did hear more than the usual "My Guy" and the same
three Four Tops songs in power rotation.
