What's been going on at 93.7 Mike FM

they sounded pretty wide when they first came out of a gate,
but now all they got is the same 300-400 songs over and over
and over and over...they've stopped using any references to I-pod, shuffles, etc. makes you wonder whether the corporate radio is
so tightly set in its old ways or avearage listeners are totally
creatures of habit who just love all that familiarity
and repetition 24/7?

For Entercom, the bottom line is this:

WMKK-93.7 is a jockless station. By going to a "Jack"-type format, they cut out their airstaff, which was a large part of their payroll. With no nigh-priced air talent, the station's expenses are greatly reduced.

Even if their revenue is down, their expenses are also way down, so "Mike" may actually be making a bigger profit than the former "Star" format.

They played Tom Sawyer by Rush this morning, thought that was kinda cool.

That's right, and that's the sad truth about what commercial radio has become. I'm almost ready to try out Sirius, but I know it's only a matter of time for financial reasons before ads start popping up there, too.
