What's been going on at Jarad Broadcasting

I would like to know what's been going on at WLIR, WDRE, WBON and the Long Island Press?

I wonder if WLIR will ever get the 92.7 signal back from Univision. <Univision wasted its money on getting its programming to Long Island.

Comments please.

Well, maybe if they wanted to give back the 62 million dollars Univision forked over for 92.7. I wouldn't hold your breath.

Why would they get the 92.7 signal back? They sold it for 62 million dollars.

At this point, who knows what is going on. They moved all the station websites to the Long Island Press site after spending money on building three new sites which were glitzy but didn't work well on many browsers. They started streaming Party 105, then they stopped. They still stream WLIR but with lower bandwidth than before. Party 105 tweaked back to a dance-heavy format, again. I have no idea what The Bone is doing, it seems that their entire airstaff has turned over. I love WLIR and the current sound of Party but I don't know what to say about this company.

They probably would, but I wish they'd at least add an alternative dance show to Party, maybe on Sunday nights...similar to the ones they had on the old 92.7 and which they, I think, have now on 107.1. Would also be cool if they could somehow find a way to extend WLIR's signal to the west, to cover the part of the Island where 85% of the population lives, or at least part of that part. Can't think of which station they could go after, though.

Great response. This pretty much sums up exactly what we've seen at Jarad over the year. A complete lack of focus and business sense. They made the brilliant business move of selling 92.7 for $62 million, and have made a mess of everything since. The only thing I'd add is that while WLIR will never get 92.7 back, I'd be willing to bet that Univision would love it if Jarad WOULD buy it back. I don't believe they've made even a dent in the Long Island market since the purchase.

I think their ratings actually went *down* but I don't know if things will change now with their format change to "reggaeton y mas". Certainly hasn't given them even close to the results they expected though, IMO. Another wasted frequency.
