Whats going on at Hot 95-7?

Noticed last night they no longer have the Roxy broadcast anymore. It's on KRBE now. Whats up with that?

If a station can't get any butts in the door, there's not much point in the club owner having them there.

It's a shame all the kiddies that actually listen to Hot can't drink!

The long line around the building 2 weeks ago when Hot was there says otherwise.

Assuming this line you speak of even existed, you can create a line out of even a tiny crowd. It's a classic nightclub and promoter trick to make a place look busy. There were probably more people in that line than inside.

If the owner was happy with what Hot was bringing in, there wouldn't have been a change. Period. It's really that simple.

I got inside. Completely packed, far from any "small crowd". So I'm going to have to go with truthsayer's logic, since it's obviously not a crowd thing.

That's funny. I was told it happened because Hot couldn't deliver a crowd.

And for whatever reason, the club did cancel Hot. Arbitron says the station has no adults to speak of. That couldn't possibily have anything to do with it. Could it? Naah...

Maybe the club was "packed" with 18 and 19 year olds. That doesn't make a bar owner much money.

Well, you have the wrong story. Keep speculating. I love when people speculate...keep going, this is fun...like charades :)

Then by all means Mo, give us the real story!

Arbitron says the station has no adults. The owner of a nightclub that makes most of his money selling drinks to the 21+ crowd cancels your station.

Seems like an easy one to figure out, but I'd love to hear the spin Hot is putting on this!

I'm not at liberty to discuss the reasons...I'm just here to tell you, that you are dead wrong and its a bit more complicated than you may think.  Not here to start a scuff, just here to correct your assumption, which is incorrect.  Misery loves company on these boards it seems...everyone is out to down the next person.  It's sad to say, but the real downer in our industry today is ourselves.  Aren't we all here for the passion?

Sometimes we have to step back and just say...damn, I actually get paid for having fun!  Maybe this advice would help in your pursuit of "calling out".  What's your beef with Roxy/Hot/KRBE?  Does it concern you?  Does it have an effect on your day to day life?

I'm done talking about this...just wanted to put things in a bit of a positive perspective for a couple seconds.

Obviously I'm wrong. Hot was delivering terrific results for the club and got cancelled anyway. Makes sense to me! (Of course, you offer no proof that I'm wrong, but that's OK. I'll take your word for it.) The word on the street says otherwise, just so you know.

I really don't have a "beef" either way. I just found the whole situation interesting when I read about it here. I find it even more interesting that Hot staffers seem desperate to try to put the situation in a positive light. With those ratings, I guess I'd be grasping at straws too.

If you had any idea what you were talking about, you'd go straight to the manager of ROXY and ask them instead of running around saying what "the word on the street" is, then again, it's not really your business, is it? (Since when was a personal assumption "the word on the street", anyways?) Hot delivered fantastic results, and had large crowds each night they were there. If you want to know the reason, go back to the 2nd post on this topic - AS I TOLD YOU. Good day, sir.

Wrong on all counts. I was told by someone very close to the situation that Roxy cancelled Hot because they weren't getting results.

So let's take a look at everything and see which side of this argument makes more sense. Hot has no adult numbers. KRBE has huge adult numbers. The owner of a bar, who makes his real money from patrons 21+ cancels the kiddie station and picks up the one that can deliver people that can actually buy alcohol.

As much as the Hot staffers and fanboys would like everyone to think it was something else, the answer is simple and plain as day. Hot failed to deliver results for this advertiser so the advertiser changed their strategy.

And my interest in the situation? Irritating you apparently. It seems to be working!

Yes, ignorance is irritating. If someone asked you to pay $10k to $20k extra for your vehicle, you wouldn't have bought it - even if you're totally happy with your vehicle. Make sense, or are you really that ignorant? Also, you may want to take another look at the "no adults" theory you have, plus the KRBE "huge adult numbers" theory.

Fanboy? I beg your pardon?

Hot more than over-delivered. But when it comes at costing significantly more than it had, any logical person goes "oh hell no". Argue about things you know about, or ask those that are inside it. Not your little buddies that think they are "very close".

Really? So KRBE's that much cheaper than Hot? I find that really hard to believe. I think anyone with any sense at all would find that really hard to believe.

Looking at your past posts here on RI, you seem to know everything about every small market in East Texas. You also claim to be a PD. Well, I know you're not the PD of Hot, so which small market radio station are you programming?

Yes, the fanboy label seems to fit.

Ah yes, "ad hominem". Lovely.

I'm just telling it like it is. Anyone is welcome to click on your screen name. They'll then have the option to look at your last posts and they'll see you have quite a bit of passion for small markets in East Texas and claim to be a PD.

Mr. Fixx...shouldn't you be scheduling music or doing your afternoon show? Or are you done voice tracking?

Yea, I didn't expect THAT reply... maybe you should be more aware of who works in your building that knows your persona.
