What's going on at KPHX

Since they are now half sports (CBS Sports) and half progressive talk, I am wondering who will win out. With all the sports talk in the market, I would think they would do better with all progressive talk, rather than splitting it up.

And to me having sports mid-day, and wee early mornings only, while talk is in the mornings, and evenings only, does not seem to make sense. Four times a day, they give up their audience to switch format.

It will interesting to see if they make the ratings with this formula.

Jinxed frequency. In recent years 14~Eighty has been Spanish language, All Comedy, Lounge Music, Progressive and a part time Sports Parking Lot. Here at the Buckeye Media Hut, we call it "programming in search of a niche". The station still hasn't found one yet...unless there's value in the land sitting under the towers!

KPHX had slots open with both Ed Schultz and Randi Rhodes ending their shows, CBS Sports Radio needed a Phoenix station for its prime weekday talent. Seems to have worked out so far.

KTAR ("Your Daily Dose of Stupid") routinely kicks news/talk to the curb on Sundays and often during the week, so I really don't see what the difference is here.
