Whats going on with clear channel providence?

Recently listening to 94HJY I heard a production sweep saying "while she may want to listen to coast 933, once you get home you can finally rock with 94hjy and b101, a classic combination" like whats going on? does anybody find that to be strange?

Interesting. HJY is sounding more "classic rock" these days. Maybe B101 will be shifting to more the traditional classic rock route while HJY goes with more the "Brew" format? And for those that don't know, the Clear Channel "Brew"-branded stations are harder classic rock stations--more 80s and 90s focused.

Based on what you said, I can see that happening. given the fact that b101 has been sounding more like zlx in recent years. HJY has always been hard rock, but the hard rock they seem to play a lot of tends to be 10 - 20 years old and it's not like they would have to change much either as far as personality's go. maybe drop the nikki sixx show, and reduce the metal zone to being just a podcast / iheart radio exclusive show. they already have the fan base established, so they really wouldn't be doing any harm to their core base. how ever speaking of iheart, if you listen to hjy during the overnight hours they do this automation show dubbed "roots of rock" and its pretty much a bunch of obscure songs that never made it to be big or stay relevant, mixed with relevant classic rock songs

Robbegnoche, I though Scarpetti was voicetracking overnights at 'HJY?

Jacko, Clear Channel has been cross-promoting its stations in other markets. In New York, they advertise their entire cluster on Q104.3. In West Palm Beach, they advertise Classic Hits WOLL on CHR WLDI. I am not so sure I'd read all that much into it. However, given the conversation in the other thread, 'HJY would be wise to freshen up the music and introduce more 90s and 2000s songs.

Paul and Al have always said "your home for CLASSIC rock and roll" either directly before or after a classic rock song. They must be doing it a lot more lately. That, along with the deep voiced "Journey, Journey, Journey," which I caught this morning. They've also played with "the best of the new and the best of the classics" over the years.

Now where are the 40-minute music marathons?

I know, I remember they used to do that every day...I guess they must be getting a boat load of money via more ads and frequent commercial breaks

Just to satisfy my curiosity Robbegnoche, have you any actual Radio experience? I don't mean that to be insulting or demeaning so please don't take it that way. I'm just curious.
