What's going on with Coast Radio?

I hadn't been paying attention for a bit, and now all of a sudden:

1] Ted Asregadoo's gone.

2] Don Potter's been severely demoted. He's now the traffic guy on a show called "The Morning Show with Wayne, Heather, and Don." Oh, and it airs from 5:00 AM - 9:00 AM. That's a MORNING show?

3] Heather Quarterman (the Heather from the above mentioned show) is now ALSO a morning show host. While Don Potter drives home, Heather then stays in her chair and hosts from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

4] Lynda Rose is gone.

5] Debbie Rogers has been gone for a long time.

6] Trish Bell's been gone a long time.

7] Jeff Perry's been gone for a long time.

For a company that promotes itself as the local "hometown" alternative to corporate radio, Coast Radio sure likes to fire people... faster than REAL corporate radio stations do, in fact.

At least since I've paid attention (early 1960s), radio station owners have been firing people right and left for the flimsiest of reasons, or for no reason at all other than they found an on-air talent they consider "better." Corporate radio has probably made it worse - because they're always cutting jobs to cut costs so they canplacate stockholders. But this is nothing new.

I thought Lynda was still with Coast...on KUIC. Last time I saw Trish Bell, though, I regrettably didn't ask her what she was up to nowadays.

This isn't the first time they've given Don the shaft, either.

Trish is doing voiceover work and weekend and fill-in at KBAY.

I just don't understand why they don't pick a morning host and STICK with him/her, at least for more than a year.

And you're right, Velvet, Potter's been Coast's whipping boy for quite some time. I'm just shocked that they replaced him with someone with no radio experience.

This is just speculation, but my assumption is that they can get away with paying her a lot less money than they would have to pay anyone else. One show for two stations is cheaper than having to pay two qualified hosts and experienced news and traffic reporters.

This, from a company who purports to treat its employees like family.
