What's going on with Gary Sutton?

I might have missed the story, since I don't get to tune in to WSBA 910 every morning, so my apologies if this has already been addressed, but...

What is the real story with Gary Sutton, & his recent time slot/show change? Is that something that the station cooked up on their own, or was it Gary's idea to shake it up like that? I for one am not happy with it. Another local guy loses it to syndication crap...

Not that I really dislike Glenn Beck, but I can already get him on several stations on the dial...Just another bad decision by management, I suppose...

I'll save you from having to open up one of the posts below:

from DCRTV:
"" DCRTV hears that there's been a big shake-up at Cumulus news talker WSBA (910 AM) in York PA. Two Baltimore area natives have been let go. Cathy Clark, who'd been news director and a station employee for more than two decades, and Dennis Edwards, WSBA's morning co-host and a 10-year employee""
wonder if any more big changes are in the works!

The answer was--yes. This is all connected. Glen Beck takes Gary's time slot--Gary moves to mornings with Jim Horn ---so Dennis Edwards is out of a job.
I also wonder why Beck. You can hear WHP anywhere you can hear WSBA. Why not Laura Ingraham? She's not on in this market--can't even be heard in the region (she's not even in Philly anymore).
That having been said--I'd still prefer local. The loss of Gary's show is a loss for listeners-Yorkers have no station to voice their opinions on in their market except for the "hour" Gary takes calls (in between news, sports, traffic, weather, weather radar, special features, etc. etc. etc.).

Well, no one ever accused management of using their heads when making programming decisions. ::) I had read that post, but I was still wondering what Gary's position is on all this. Years ago, WSBA made several quick changes on the overnight slot, went from Phil Hendrie, Art Bell, & a couple others before settling with Joey Reynolds.

Reynolds is an okay host, I guess. I get tired of his show fairly quickly though, since I don't live in New York, & most of his topic material, guests, etc. are New York based. maybe WSBA will get a flood of mail/email, etc., & they will decide to bring Gary back. One can only hope...

:-\

So, all of this is more budget cutting moves, if I'm reading into this correctly. The once proud and mighty AM 910, "where news comers first," is no more!

I think WSBA still does a respectable job from a news standpoint.
Unfortunately as radio revenues decline because of market conditions
budget cutting is unavoidable. Economic conditions have resulted
in a very unstable environment with regard to advertising and thus
are contributing to these type of cuts,
particularly at companies that are publicly traded...where ultimately
the shareholders expect return. Radio is no different than any other
business when sales decline operating expenses need to be reigned
in.

I understand budget cuts, but is it a cost cutting move to pay Gary and also syndicate Glenn Beck? Seems like that would be spending more money...

This is not budget cutting at all. It's relocating talent to a different time slot. This means no 'local' call-in, while all other day parts are syndicated. Jim Horn is not a news info anchor...never has been and never will be.

Not to be curt with you, Bubba Bob, but if it's not budget cutting at all- would you like to tell that to Dennis Edwards and Cathy Clark? Who filled their positions? I'm sure they'd like to know!
