WHAT'S GOING ON WITH WIFE IN CONNERSVILLE?

What's the news in Connersville with WIFE? I know they bought the Rushville frequency after losing their FM to Norwood, Ohio. I understand they are doing oldies on the AM and country on the FM. Can anyone add any more info?

Small point of English language vernacular: I would hardly use "lose" as the term. Perhaps "sold," given all the money spent on the frequency. A (seriously) genius move on Rodgers part!

"Lose" is used for certain people who constantly try and fail at blocking station renewal applications.

Po-tay-to, po-tah-to, I know they sold the frequency. What I'm interested in is what they're doing with 1580 and 94.3.

Do you know if they're taking either off the bird? Is Mrs. Pruett still involved with the station. I understand Gary Havens is consulting for them.

i don't know if they are on the bird or not. if they do take each format off satellite, i do not know which network they are using. i have not been through there since before the r'ville sale was announced.

Nothing off the bird...all locally produced on both stations. Jerri Pruet is still there as GM and Gary Havens is consulting...I saw him in the halls 2 weeks ago.

A good gig. The tools to win are there. Havens and Hawkins are great to work with. They do need a serious upgrade on the FM sig into C-ville. That will come.

I heard today that Bob Wills is leaving Jerri's juke box to be a grocery store mgr. in Anderson Indiana. Bob must have taken all the crap from Pruet and Havens that he could stand.

I've never worked for Havens, but I've also never read or heard anything other than good about him. Until you, Triple T. Care to tell us when you worked for him, and offer a little of why you dislike him?

I heard today that Bob Wills is leaving — to be a grocery store mgr. in Anderson Indiana.

If true, this is MOST-UNFORTUNATE news indeed [for WIFE and its listeners]! I will handily-entertain and debunk ANY contention that Bob Wills wasn’t a VERY-capable part of the WIFE staff [particularly its live and local AM] and presented an exceptional product—given the resources available. I recently observed that WIFE management elected to de-couple him from Brett Briscoe—the news and sports half of its SuperOldies 1580 morning show. Bob was repositioned at the Rushville station upon its launch as “Hometown Country” about a month ago.

I STRONGLY-DOUBT that Gary Havens and his so-called “crap” [ ::) a SPECULATION directed from a TOTAL LACK of personal experience] had ANYTHING to do with Mr. Wills’ alleged departure. Mr. Havens is well-regarded as the “nice guy of consultants”. More likely, is that Bob made a simple personal decision to benefit his family... I wish him the very best! WIFE and its listeners will surly-miss him... AND his record collection 8)

It is my understanding that Mr. Wills is leaving to take a higher paying job outside of radio because his wife lost her job and hasn't been able to find another one. I've been in the same boat. You have to do what's best for your family.

I too wish Bob the best with his new job. Bob was a great guy to work with when he and i were just dee jays. Bob changed when he sat in the PD's chair. Oh well that was then and this is now. Bob, take care and good luck.
