What's gonna happen the next ten years in the Tri-Cities?

Okay, so I am a little curious as to what people are thinking about the direction our little radio market is going and will be in the next five to ten years. Anyone seeing a McRadio company like Clear Channel or Cumulus coming in the market? Yeah, I know it probably won't be Cheap Channel since they're downsizing, but another big group similar to that. Will they try to make a play for one of the big three? Will WXBQ ever be overtaken by WQUT or WTFM or a darkhorse contender? Will satellite radio start to overtake terrestrial radio, especially here? Just some questions I thought I'd throw out there.
 
I think the biggest change in the TRI is gonna happen when the PPM's get here. Thats when the deck MIGHT get shuffled. New York just re-launched thier K-rock format because of the prelim PPM info showing rock radio having more of an audience than previously thought (something anyone with any common sense already knew). We'll see.
 
I thought about your question- and honestly the answer is NOTHING.

Really, what has changed around here since 1997?

There have been relatively few format flips. I can't think of one new radio personality that people notice with the possible exception of Jay Sandos calling ETSU games, and even he had to make his own position and is generally not invited into the table of sports talk or anchoring.

We've lost WKPT-TV news, we have more automation than ever before, and nobody wants to disrupt the status quo.
