The sale rumors have died down some, but who knows for sure. The $200 million price was stupid. The talk is that Smulyan is hanging onto 101.9 at least until his next attempt to go private, which probably won't be for a while considering the financial shape his entire company is in. No dance/CHR format, no Joel Salkowitz, none of the things fanatical posters are whining for are in the cards either. Emmis (now known as "A-mess") isn't going to do anything that means investing money in the station, cuz they are that strapped for $$. Millions are being diverted to KMVN/LA for a TV campaign which caused that station to go up a whole two-tenths of a point and finally crack a one share in the newest trend. July 11 is the A-mess shareholders meeting, maybe there'll be some juicy news then, like investors lighting bonfires and demanding Smulyan's head on the end of a long pointed stick. Big troubles with 98.7 Kiss too, don't forget them in all this. The A-Mess stations in Chicago are lame, and then there's LA with the Movin abortion. All that weakness in the nations top 3 markets. Trying to go private didn't work last year and financially A-mess was in a little better shape then.
