What's Happening At Goom Radio?

Will 2 B, the PD of Goom's "All Hip Hop" channel just posted on his Facebook page the following: "with a heavy heart, due 2 circumstances beyond @AHH_Radio's control 10a-12p est on 2/3 is the LAST live bcast on @allhiphopcom - Join @will2bee ... & the rest of the @GOOMradio #HomeTeam Family on ALLHIPHOP.com Radio - if u can make it 2 the studios pls join us and make history."

The "circumstances beyond our control" part makes me wonder... Is this the hip-hop channel only, or all of the Goom channels? (Goom offers a dozen music channels with different formats.)

I can't understand how they've stayed afloat so long. The programming is so-so and the audio quality awful.

Interesting to know since i'm told things last....
Hope whatever their doing doesn't Destory what GOOM has setup since it want live. ???
especially since the new site was launched and new stations are going up onair. one thing i dont understand is that why are they laying off programmers (is it just the programmers?), dont they need them to manage the content for the stations. I have also heard that most of the talent onair are being thrown out. Most of the Shows such as HAM Radio and Earrrly Show are being fired!
Are they laying off the staff for just all automated radio stations that are DJ-less? If so then way not just merge with Pandora!
What about all those Interactive Features being planned such as MyGOOM and Shout!, Would those features happen..
The Actions of GOOM US are raising many unanswered questions. Going to a "business to business" Model will just make GOOM look like another Last.fm , GOOM set to be different than others, now i dont know? ???

are all the Onair staff (Shelley,Zach and Miss Stacy to name a few) still gonna be there?
who got or will be fired?
Will the interactive features be included with the restructured GOOM Radio?

Hope GOOM Radio is still the same.....

The processing company you work for makes some dreadful sounding stuff.

Uncle Eddie said on the final "Ham Radio Show" on Thursday night that virtually all on-air personalities with the exception of Zach Sang (who hosts a teenybopper-geared music entertainment show) is being let go. So basically, Nick, all of the hosts that you mentioned in a previous post are no longer there.

The way that they have executed this radio site is incredible to watch unfold. There has been so much negative press about them.

Well, GOOM might as well call it the quits and close down US Operations
because what they planning will completely **** everything for what GOOM was set to do
They set to make radio different, now they are just becoming another Pandora (Why dont they just merge together!)
Well, i think the reason they axed the talent (not including the golden child) is because GOOM doesn't want to pay for talent. if the Interactive Features such as MyGOOM and Shout were to be kept, the radio listeners and community at the site could be the onair talent,"break down the barriers of who can be onair". It would keep GOOM budget the same and just focus on partners and site operations while the community provides the radio experience for everyone at the site.
seems like a good idea right?

anyone know what happened to Ultimate Radio? I hope it's not dead. IMO, it's the best Top 40 station on the internet.

I've been trying to get the same answer. We know about the layoffs, but the whole station vanished from the web site and online. Might be an indication that Internet Radio is not all there yet...thanks to The RIAAA.

This sucks. It's surprisingly hard to find a true Top 40 station online and Ultimate Radio was one of them :(
