What's happening in Defuniak Springs?

So the news today included this tidbit:

"Kyzer Communications files to buy country/oldies WZEP (1460) from Arthur Dees’ Walton County Broadcasting for $330,000. Jason Kyzer doesn’t own any other radio stations."

Anyone know anything else?

Kyzer is Kra Kra? You can buy 100kw FMs for that and actually maybe make money. What FM presence does ZEP possibly have, CCENG? Poledo keep posting stuff, need to check this and abuse everyone a but more.

I don't think WZEP has any FM presence at all. In fact, I don't know of any translators offhand that are active within 20 miles of DFS that could be moved in.

It's 10 kW days on the high end of the band and it doesn't exactly look like a flamethrower on the coverage maps.

Hopefully $330k includes a nice piece of land, a couple of buildings, and some damn nice radioing equipments.

The WZEP license alone shouldn't be worth more than $30k?

...and Defuniak seems like the type of town that a translator would flourish in. They've had local LPTV and LPFM forever and aren't really economically connected to the surrounding towns with local radio.

Word is that the station is on the market for 250k. They do a nice job of serving their community with local news, sports, etc. I heard there was an offer, but it looks like it is back on the market. I think Art Dees is ready to retire because of health issues. The station does come with land and new equipment to include a new 10kw transmitter.
