What's next for Free-FM

Free-FM is a complete disaster in SF. I don't listen to that station so much. The one show that I like is The Big Show with John Boy and Billy, because it is a million times better than Opie & Anthony, Howard Stern and Adam Corrola! The one show I would like to see in San Francisco is John Boy and Billy. I listened to JB&B a few times, and they are a million times better than O&A, Stern and Corrola, those three shock jocks that I hate so much. That might be my rumor that John Boy and Billy MIGHT syndicate to San Francisco , but I don't think John Boy and Billy would work for CBS, but it could work for stations like KYLD(Wild 94.9) or KFOX!!!! In the meantime, I got this link for those of you in the Bay Area who doesn't like Free-FM at 106.9(I only listen to them for the A's games). If it doesn't carry the syndicated John Boy and Billy morning show(or nobody else does), here it is.

There's no way this station will last much longer. Not with ratings like they have (or don't have). CBS needs to do a complete overhaul on 106.9. They paid WAY too much for that signal only to be getting beat by Sacramento FM's!

Since they are locked in with the A's games, i really can't see them doing anything.

Except hiring local shows and calling it Talk that Rocks!

They can either move the As games to 1550 AM, or just leave them on FM regardless of the format. When KFRC was Oldies, they played the As for years on the AM side, but the DJs on the simulcast talked about the games, and promoted various Athletics related events. No reason that can't be done again. In fact, if I remember correctly - before KFRC - the As ran on KSFO when it was Oldies, and simulcast the rest of the time with KYA-FM.

Didn't The Bone play Raiders games for awhile? There's no reason sporting events have to be aired on talk or news stations.

Forget the A's on 106.9...move them to KYOU 1550 and put on a music format that will knock down KOIT, give both Alice and Live room to grow. It's the only logical choice!
They also need to put Movin' out of its misery and change it back to 99.7 KFRC Classic Hits!

The A's moving to Free was because it gets better reception in most parts of the Bay Area. 1550 is an awful signal. I am in the Sunset and can't hear it...

As for the station itself, perhaps some familar voices in the morning (Dog House?) would give it some life...How much life? I'd like to find out...

My guess is they'll drop the Free-FM name like some of the others are doing. They really should drop the Radio Chick. She sucks! They should either syndicate The Dogghouse and/or The Kidd Chris Show. Something more edgy to carry the station after Carolla and O&A.

If they don't move the talk on FREE-FM to 1550am, they will likely put a majority of it on their HD frequency. Granted their are not many receivers out there yet, it is a possibility. I'm convinced that 106.9 will be a music format by June!

The A's are on both 1550 and 106.9 and 106.9 is locked into carrying the A's throughout the rest of the season.

And, aside from a TV Station in Texas, I believe the KMPX calls
are available if you remember 98.9 or 107 FM back in the day;
ah, yes, good ol' Walt Jamond would love it!
