What's on your presets?

Being radio people, we skip around the dial trying to catch dead air on the competing station, or just to listen and learn from other shows. But which stations do you have on your preset buttons? I'll start:

1 - 93 Rock / Y-100.7 / WIOD
2 - Mega 94.9 / 103.5 the Beat / WINZ
3 - WVUM / Big 105.9 / WKAT
4 - 97.3 the Coast / 97.9 WRMF / (no AM)
5 - 99 Jamz / Power 96 / (no AM)<P ID="signature">______________

Here's my car radio, with SEVEN reasons I don't have any presets:

<table width=600 border=3 bgcolor=gray>
<tr><td colspan=7 align=center><h2>MY CAR RADIO BUTTONS</h2></td><tr>
<td width='14%' bgcolor=white align=center>WMXJ and WOLL dumped most of their pre-1965 music.</td><td width='14%' bgcolor=white align=center>There is no classical music station any more.</td><td width='14%' bgcolor=white align=center>I can't get a good signal on jazz station WDNA until I'm 20 minutes from home.</td><td width='14%' bgcolor=white align=center>Syndicated talk radio is full of extremists.</td><td width='14%' bgcolor=yellow align=center>There is no local talk.</td><td width='14%' bgcolor=white align=center>James Crystal dumped their best people.</td><td width='14%' bgcolor=white align=center>Clear Channel and Cox have removed many choices.</td></table>

I just scan around, and if I don't like anything I plop in a cassette!

Well, given the fact that I don't live in South Florida at this time and that judging by the tapes my friends have sent me I probably wouldn't like the available choices anyway, I'll list what presets I'd have on my home stereo if I were there right now despite the fact that I'd probably be running my own Part 15 station.

1) 87.7 WTVJ
2) 88.1 WAYF
3) 89.7 WMCU
4) 91.3 WLRN
5) 93.9 WLVE
6) 96.5 WPOW
7) 97.3 WFLC
8) 99.9 WKIS
9) 100.7 WHYI
10) 102.7 WMXJ
11) 610 WIOD
12) 1360 WKAT

The fact that I would set 12 presets is actually rather stunning, considering that I have 30 available and that every single one of them is taken where I am now. Says something about the current state of radio in South Florida, doesn't it?<P ID="signature">______________

Not trying to sound like a sarcastic smartass.... The car wash broke my antenna off several months ago, and I have been too lazy to get it fixed. I have no idea how Miami radio sounds these days :(<P ID="signature">______________

Well...living up in Canada...I listen to miami radio online and I have all the FM's the stream live bookmarked into the browsers and I have the stations saved in the medial as asx files as you can go to the "Stream Center" and copy.

I listen to 93 rock, Magic 102.7 and big 105.9 most of the time.

Pretty funny coming from a guy who hates local radio today but writes about it and is Greg Budell's personal but unpaid shill!

LOL! Relax, Im just messing with you. (I visit your site every month!)

Haven't been here much lately thanks to that bitch Wilma but Happy Holidays everyone!

ROTFL! Say it again.

Maybe he'll read this and send me some money from Alabammy!

Really, I think James Crystal dumped and/or reassigned
some of their best people.

Kelly and Joyce were great with local talk. But as
a deejay, Joyce is as corny as you can get without
being called Redinbacher.

It's funny, "they" say you just can't program only for
the over-55 dempographic. But both Joyca and Chuck *talk*
to the audience like their market is the over-75 crowd,
while playing music for the over-40 crowd.

Dave McBride was very funny, like a local Andy Rooney.

Greg & Don were an ... interesting pair ... thouigh I
think Don would have been more comfortable with Randi Rhodes
or Al Franken.

Thanx... Hope to have a new update up by next weekend.

Adam,

Y100 is pretty cool. Except that night jock is horrendous! I prefer the former CHR hipster goofing off at 99.9 from 7-midnight ;-)

Luv ya, bro!

> What's a preset?

Us old farts call them radio buttons.

At least that's what they were called
before software developers stole the term.

(Because that's what they look like, and how
they worked -- mutually exclusive choices.)

Here's a man with good taste!

Also... I didn't know Miramar had a station. And 1280 yet!
