Yes, interesting, but many of the formats are wrong. There were never that many Top 40's. Also, I believe WVKO-FM may have been WSPO during that period.

I think you'd have put both WTVN and WBNS into the full service/hot A/C category rather than top 40. The music was pretty uptempo but they both, as I recall, had hourly newscasts and other full service features. I don't remember any calls other than WVKO-FM for the soul period on 94.7, I believe those calls were in place through the switch to WSNY.

94.7 was definitely WSPO during part of the 70's. Bert Charles, longtime sports announcer and then-owner of WVKO-AM and 94.7, changed the FM calls to WSPO to reflect the fact that it carried live SPOrts, with Charles doing the play-by-play. (Can't recall exactly what team(s)...maybe OSU away games?) Anyway, I recall that its main format was easy listening, and it seemed to play the same 3-hour block of instrumentals over and over. (Mostly garbage musically, except for the fabulous Wes Montgomery...loved his "California Dreamin.") At some point, they started simulcasting VKO-AM at night. I believe that's when the calls changed back to VKO-FM.

Let me put it this way -- all the stations I called "top 40" had SURVEYS, or else played what were just starting to be called top 40 "oldies." That's how I categorized Top 40 in those days; and I kept copious notes of the surveys. My records indicate that 94.7 had the call letters WSPO from 1969-1975. Trust me, the call letters were WVKO-FM in August 1976, the date I referenced.
