What's PTZ up to?

Channel 5 WPTZ has been running these elusive "news from your backyard - coming soon" promos. Any thoughts? Are they going to back to anchoring in multiple cities (like they did back in the 80's)?

HMMMMM....

regards, Joe

That, or they'll increase their news coverage outside of the Plattsburgh and Burlington areas.

Do they still have the satellite station down in White River Junction? If so, do they use it as a "Southern VT Bureau" or something for the WPTZ newscasts? What do they do with the old WNNE-31? I ask this because I'm not familiar with either station. All I know is that a few years back, WNNE used to do their own newscasts or did "cut-ins" during the WPTZ newscasts.

WNNE was a standalone station with its own (small) news operation up until early 2001. There were morning local cut-ins, a 30 minute 6 and 11 newscast, and nothing on weekends. Once Hearst-Argyle had WNNE in its stable they simulcasted WPTZ's news on 31 but dedicated one block to Upper Valley news with a seperate anchor.

Shortly after this arrangement, WCAX established an "Upper Valley Bureau" in Leb/WRJ with former WNNE reporter Kate Duffy... not sure if it's still running.

Newschannel 5 is adding a 5:30 pm newscast starting Monday, canceling the noon show as well. News from 5pm - 7 pm now.

The noon show ends Friday 9/6, but I believe the 5:30 show doesn't start until Monday 9/19.
