What's swimming in the Lake on March 16?

I keep hearing promotions on the Lake that on March 16 some changes will be coming along with new call letters? A listener will take over for that day? Sounds like a 1 day deal/stunt. then back to their usual.

Yep...

Just a promotion.

If (for example) Joe Blow wins, then the station becomes 106.5 Joe FM (for a day), and Joe then wins other goodies, gets to pick the music, talk on the radio, etc.

Again, it's all for a day.

Thanks, I had to ask as I know the Lake seems too successful with it's new format to switch. Everywhere I go now, if they have a radio on, that's the station they usually have on. I basically like it, but they can get heavy handed on some tunes, seems more often that not when I'm tuning in to the Lake, "Raspberry Beret" by Prince is playing. I do miss V1073, but guess I'm in the minority, and that's a different topic. IMO. The Lake and V1073 would have made a great "odd couple" team. I like many of the hits and classics the Lake plays, but I am also a fan of much (not all) of the alternative, and of course the stuff I grew up with that WMMS used to play, way back, that V1073 also resurrected, and WNCX ignores.

Sounds like a great promotion to me. 106.5 ScottyFM. 8)

What if somebody named Jack wins? Will they be able to use "Jack FM"? Even though as I understand it, Lake is pretty much a Jack format. Would be really funny someone with a long hard to pronounce name that can't be shortened or nicknamed easily.

Rats I woulda loved to have won --- bring my laptop in with Christian Rock -- and put on "Matt FM" ... :)

Something tells me with these "contests" .. the listener doesn't get as much say in the music as one would wish..

My guess Selector will be still selecting the music -- and Angie will give her "input" and maybe get a "few" requests in..

It'll be interesting to see if the mic in the 106.5 studio gets cracked for the first time in 14 and a half months. I think enough time has passed where Tony Matteo could do a 3-7 shift with three or four quick breaks an hour.
