Whats that new Sophie top40 sound?

I'm hearing Fergie, Gwen Stafanie, Natasha Bedingfield in the mix. It sounds like competition for MY94.1 :)

How about bringing back The Planet. At least it was listenable and had a bigger audience.

No, CBS signed up 103.7 for the Format of the Year Club and they've got seven years left on their subscription.

How many CBS San Diego programming/music geniuses have kept their jobs through failure after failure on that station?

They do need to try something different, its like the only station that is not doing good after flipping from the free fm format, next to kfrc

Star 94.1 will continue to destroy as they don't have the programming talents of Jimmie Steele or Jeff and Jer, or the 100,000 watt signal. Sofie at 26,000 watts from the same tower doesn't do an eighth as well as Sofie. And just stand by as the clock is ticking until Sofie becomes a carbon clone of the best Oldies station in America.....K-Earth 101, the only bad thing is that they will never get the amazing talents of Shotgun Tom Kelly or Charlie Tuna. But it only has a little more time as Sofie.

136kgb is right on track. Watch for Sophie to go 60's/70's oldies like KRTH. With a local focus, it might do well in SD, but wondering if it's overkill with KRTH's monster signal covering a lot of the population base already??

103.7 to simulcast KEARTH shortly? with local traffic, etc. cheap way out for format wheel station...
most of the P1 oldie listener have moved on to satellite radio. radio for this format is left with P2's.

K-earth is not really a ratings factor in San Diego. If they went Classic Hits/ Oldies they would need to do a local version, but having K-earth resources, including Jhani Kaye certainly couldn't hurt.
Satellite radio has not taken over anything, other than being a strong PR machine. Their sizzle certainly outweighs their real listening. Their subscription base, and real listening is still rather small.

You know the best thing to do with 103.7 is turn it off and save the power bill! It hasn't been worth anything since they killed KJQY/KJOY 103.7

i rather listen to krth simulcasted or even better, pump krth 101 signal up.i believe they are running 50,000 watts?bump it to 100,000 watts then it would be over.yes they have a extremly strong signal.i work in poway and they come in better than kgb.besides, love the krth jingles!

KRTH cannot go to 100,000 watts without moving lower on the mountain. All of those signals are grandfathered right there. If you move them up or down even a foot they must lower their power. The FCC rules for power and height on that mountain have changed since they all were licensed. Plus KRTH must protect KGB-FM and KFMB-FM.

i diddnt know that.back in the day power 106 (kpwr)use to say on there famous station id. 72,000 watts of music power.can they still operate that much??

The old FMs are still at the same power that they were, but if they move to another tower or go up or down in height, then they have to power down and from that height it would probably for 72,000 watts go down to below 5 kw, again due to the height

Hey it's great to see Charlie Quinn of KyXy sign in and salute the station he created (sofie).

Well considering they stole the name from Bob Bolinger's daughter, and the last song for the oldies hour was Bobby's Girl. The name is not important, as well as I spell it as poorly as it is programmed!
