What's the Deal Regarding John Batchelor?

According to his website, the John Batchelor show is on hiatus until further notice, probably late fall of 2006.

What's the scoop on this? Did he get dumped by one of his big-time affiliates? My curiosity has a strong case of pique.

WRKO many months ago and, as it would appear, WABC now, favoring the apparently local Jerry Agar for an 8-10p gig and Laura Ingraham moving up into Batchelor's late night.

He's also off the ABCRN site, although they never really pushed him and, until recently, imposed ridiculous clearance rules.

That's a shame. I havent heard the show in a long time due to a) I'm not awake when he's on, and b) here in Ohio, he is/was on the most poorly-run, unprofessional inept talk station I've ever heard in my LIFE. <Yes, WPFB I'm talking about you>.

Batchelor's show is what Drudge WISHES his show could be. <apologies to those of you who still listen to Matt>
