I've been hearing more and more complaints about rhythmic leaning CHRs.

Really who cares?

So what if they play Dem Franchize Boyz and Ne-Yo a little more than Nickelback and James Blunt. If you wanna listen to pop or pop-rock then listen to it. Sure, they don't play it right fresh when it comes out but take a look around, most rhythmic leaning CHRs are already playing James Blunt and are starting at Nickelback and Daniel Powter.

So they catch Rhythmic stuff faster than the Hot AC and Pop stuff. It's actually pretty laughable complaining about it. Have you seen the Billboard Hot 100 the past...umm...years?! At least 75% of that and even a majority of the Hot 200 is in hip-hop/rap. Yes, it's annoying after awhile. But, teens love it, not all but most. You have to understand, in these days, most teens are addicted to rap. And I'm talking about the 12-20 something group. Most CHRs are programmed to this age set especially those in bigger markets.

So I'm comparing KRQQ and KZZP, I honestly like them both but KZZP a little more. Sure they consider Dance, Dance and Dirty Little Secret new songs, but who cares just as long as they play a good mix of hip-hop, pop, and some rock that's satisfing at the end. And that is my word on that........

Exactly!

The people who are constantly bitching about what you just mentioned are the ones who haven't a clue about programming, the market and/or demographics. It's those same people that "because of corporate radio", it's all cookie-cutter. Yet, they think all CHR's should sound the same.

Huh?

Pick a side and get off the fence already, Humpty Dumpty's.

Just browse over on the Pittsburgh board and you'll find the same small fraternity of clueless who continue to complain that KISS/Pittsburgh is too rhythmic and "Pittsburgh needs a true CHR station."

Again, I ask "huh?"

If that small group think a "true CHR" is what B97 was, well, we all know what happened there.

Anyone who has a clue about their market knows that a CHR (or even a HAC for that matter) is programmed accordingly. But those complaining seem to think because what one CHR in one market is playing, the others should. Bzzt. Thanks for playing though.

As you stated, your bigger market CHR's are rhythmic leaning because they HAVE TO. I haven't researched the bigger markets, but I would venture a guess that those rhythmic-leaning CHR's are also going head-to-head with the 18-24 woman with the urban station in town. Let the Hot AC's in those markets break the James Blunt's and Daniel Powter's and the new Nickelback.

But then, some will just never get it and continue to stomp and scream and whine about it.
