I think he will take such a LONG vacation, that infinity will have no choice but to FIRE him, which is what he wants then he will be out of his contract, plus it's not like he needs the money, if he was any real man, he would donate the $500 million sirius contract to the hurricane relief fund.

Are you going to donate your entire salary to the relief fund as well, or are you just going to take potshots at Howard?

HOWARD can afford to donate the money, he doesn't need 500 million dollars, he's already way beyond rich. plus it would be a tax benefit for him, and the press he would get out of it. so, I wasn't takin a shot........

Nicholas Cage donated 1 million bucks and Americans who can bailey pay their own bills have also either donated money or blood, sweat and tears.

Can Howard Stern donate bucks? he sure can!!! but will he? who knows. Should someone who has so much give back and help people in need? Yes!!!! It’s simple math.

Howard Stern, who has the power to speak to millions of people, could use his leverage for good to motivate and mobilize his followers to donate money, clothing or simply volunteer time, blood and sweat. How about giving away hundreds of transistors radios, truck loads of toys for children, hey even Sirius receivers so people can once again be connected to the world and know what the hell is going on! The options to help others are endless and all it takes is a willingness to put aside greed for a change and giveback and help others. Again it’s simple math.

I'm confidant Howard will help

My guess is oward wil donate generously and use his position to help raise fund. Say what you want about his show, but Howard is generous and even though he might not announce it, he helps alot of charities.

That's great news

Let us be fair:

For starters Howard is on vacation still, also the fact that you even KNOW that Nicholas Cage donated a million dollars is great but it also speaks to the issue of how and why people donate money, it does not hurt their image at all. while IM sure his motives (Cage's) are pure and good, there are plenty of celebs like NFL superstar Randy Moss whose rep is otherwise crap but donate MILLIONS to various charities and get no press for it becasue they seek no publicity for their actions, they just do because it is the right thing. Think about that before judging guys like Howard.

Re: I'm confidant Howard will help

If Howard Stern is supposed to donate $500million, hiow much should Bill Gates donate? Bill's wealth makes Howard look like a immigrant refugee.

Re: Before you judge Howard.........

For many Americans money is their god and I think we tend to idealize or hate people who have achieved great wealth. But sadly you’re right, what looks like altruism could be a disguise to hide the true motives of a few unlighted, greedy self-centered people. It would be fantastic if Sterns desires to raise money through a media campaign came from his heart! And I hope his heart will guide him, or maybe his true motives will be to improve his image and ratings. Only Howard Stern and others know the true score.

Maybe George Bush and congress should give tax breaks and money for inventors to discover alternative fuels, it seems burning fossil fuels is polluting the air we breath and contributing to global warming.(we know the true score) If Willie Nelson can fuel his tour bus from used cooking fat from McDonald’s, then why can’t soccer moms do the same thing with their SUV’s All of us maybe be responsible for turbo-charging mother natures destructive forces. Rush Limbaugh thinks global warming is the fantasy of a few tree huggers. Oh I forgot, somebody who seemed so pure and right about everything has is own issues with drugs.

I think Bob Dylan saw the future.

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

yeah he really helped John Kerry and the Democrats alot, didnt give them a dime, its in the records of donations, Ms. Quivers donated, but no where is Mr. Stern listed as to have donated or given money to Kerry or the Democrats (as required by law), more postering and doing NOTHING with his wallet to help a cause he "believes" in, you forget he has a ex wife he had to pay off, 3 daughters with fancy tastes and a much younger girlfriend that loves his THICK wallet.

These vacation breaks, along with the fact that he just called it a day, are a hugre reason why I quit listenting to him. He is a mere shadow of the shadow of his former self

Why don't you just grow up ?

A) The 500 mil that you speak of is not a salary for Howard Stern; it's a budget for 3 channels of programing (24/7/365) and salaries and promotion and everything it takes to put on 3 bigtime networks.

B) It's very easy to question what he should do with his money, for all you know he has donated an amount equal to your little paycheck already. Maybe it doesn't interest him whether you know about it or not. I don't think his "bad boy" image needs your approval regarding how he doles out his money.

C) If you were "any real man" you might not worry about these matters, and if you must act on your distaste for H.S. you would stop hiding behind your vain-glorious goofball little nickname and own up to your vicious little snipes against a man for whose career you would give up both your nads.

And I mean that in a nice way.......

It's also not up to you, or I, or anyone else to decide what Howard "needs". You really dont have a leg to stand on in this argument, are you posting about Mancow? Rush? O'reilly?, Opie?, IMUS? they're all multi millionaires too and Im sure they too could easily afford to donate a cool mil but it's not a requirement for anyone.

Maybe you should do something about the situation yourself, volunteer or something if you feel that strongly about it rather than bitching and judging others. There are more ways to contribute than just contributing money, but surely even you should know that whining on this board is not one of them.

Re: I'm confidant Howard will help

Since Howard's been back, he's been devoting a segment of the show to Beth-O and the efforts of the North Shore Animal League, and their ongoing campaign to resuce animals and reunite pets with their families..

Seems everybody forgot that Howard spearheaded his own campaign to raise money for the 9-11 victims, which raised just over two million dollars from the audience..and he also appeared at the Concert for NYC in the days following the attacks..

What he does with his money and time is his business..personally, I can't wait to hear Bubba the Love Sponge on Sirus later this month..
