What's the latest on WWFL 1340 Clermont???

Hi

We drove south on US 27 thru Clermont today, and all I heard on 1340 was a bunch of garbles and possibly a chopped up human voice, something similar to a sped-up version of the old NBC Radio "Monitor" theme!

I know that WWFL has been a flavor-of-the-month format, but what's the latest news, if any?

BTW, do they interrupt the garbles at the top of the hour to do an ID? :)

Laugh if you must...but I've heard stations do just that! My favorite was a high-school station near Dayton, Ohio some years back that was playing nothing but the sounds of a CD skipping when I tuned in. The CD kept skipping for half an hour - until 59:55, when it stopped, the legal ID came on...and then right back to the skipping CD!

And now to keep packing...yours truly is (at long last) central-Florida bound later this week...anybody want to offer up some studio or transmitter-site tours? ;D

If you haven't already, spend some time with ZNS3. (if they make it that far inland) It's the kind of full-service radio that dried up in the States about 30 years ago. Really couldn't get my dial off 810 when I was down there in December....

Heard 'em for many years here, semi local quality.....they are running //1540 a few hours now. The last *real* full service was Radio Belize, even w/ radio dramas & such (at least, until TV came into Belize).

It was sold from Westgate Resorts who was using it as a travel channel to to help sell timeshares to a Hispanic group, this according to the people at Westgate. There have been several different things on there recently, from HIspanic music to English speaking programming. It has a very weak signal and barely gets into Winter Garden clearly. Whatever they paid was probably too much.

I didn't read the entire APA as I was only interested in certain hi-lites; However, the acquisition price [may] have included real estate.

It sits right on the Turnpike on farmland. It is on a bad frequency with poor coverage and zero local presence as it has been a travel message loop for years. I wish them the best of luck - they paid too much.
