What's the worst one in Columbus?

Sorry, I ask a lot of questions. :)

What station is by far the worst one in Columbus? You know, one that is not worth the space it is taking up in the air. I have a feeling the big signals are going to get brought up somewhere in here. We are always talking bad about them.

I also asked in the "The business of Radio" section what is the worst top 50 market in the US is, just for the hell of it. (Something tells nobody is going to say anything on that post, that section is dead.)

On FM, The fan, Put talk radio back on AM where it belongs.

Have to agree with that. I'm not a fan of The Fan.

FYI...The Fan still simulcasts on 1460. But I agree sports talk needs to go away...on 1230. Radio Disney would get more listeners. :p

HANDS DOWN POWER 107.5.

ANYBODY WHO DISAGREE LISTEN TO WHEN YOUR IN THE BED FOR A WEEK.

I BET YOU WILL NOT WANT TO TURN BACK.

PLEASE CAN WE HAVE OR REPLACE POWER 107.5. WITH A ANOTHER ONE.

OR HAVE A SECOND HIP HOP(URBAN AC STATION.

Once the Sun sets, 1460 is unlistenable on the North side. Have you ever tried picking up a tribe game on 1460 at night in Dublin?

You can hear Yankees games on 880 New York more clearly than Columbus' 1460. 97.1 is great for any sports fan on the North side.

The Fan is my choice. Sports Talk can have a place on the FM, but why waste a 20,000 watt stick on Sports Talk? The Fan would be more appropriate on one of the smaller sticks, such as 105.7 or 106.7, or hell, bury it on 107.1.

Ok, I'll bite.

92.3, 95.5, 100.3, 102.5, 107.1

So I should cancel plans to buy your membership into the CMA for Christmas?

Okay, so I may be a little bit biased and I'm sure that a couple of those stations are good at what they do but 5 Country radio stations is just ridiculous.

The Fan is where it belongs. Just ask the other male dominated stations who are probably not liking it any more than you after the last ratings book. This is a sports town and it has a great following. I'd get rid of three of the country stations

Let's look at this.

WCOL plays the new music.
WHOK and it's repeater at 102.5 plays classic country. So like contemporary music, you've got the new sounds and the classic sounds.
100.7 while throwing a signal over Columbus really focuses on Newark and Zanesville. they really don't pay much attention to Columbus.
107.1 is really the only throw away signal. And what else could they do?

ummm... Del i hate to tell you but WHOK doesnt have the 102.3 repeater anymore (they may be setting one up at 94.1 if approved) and WCVZ a seperate station is at 102.5 playing random country music, mostly form the last 10 years

100.3 WCLT does ok in the columbus ratings even though they really only target Newark and the surrounding area

And as far as 107.1 that signal is so small the best use for it would be possibly to match with 107.9 to get a signal that would at least cover the entire city

Columbus radio has long been so thoroughly steeped in drek that this is largely a meaningless exercise.

But 93.3 is the hands-down, er, "winner," because keeping an insipid, me-too, programmed-elsewhere AC on the first true full-market signal to hit Columbus in over 40 years goes WAYYY beyond "bad."    It's IMMORAL.

My error. I keep thinking the move-in 102.5 is still the repeater for HOK. Thank you for the correction.

Other than being a place to park something on the station until someone buys it, I don't think that's a long term solution or situation for that station. So yes, that signal probably needs to go.

Given the one-two punch of the economy and the fact that 102.5-owner Littick is probably using the cheapest (= least effective) broker they can find, I don't look for 102.5 to change hands for a long time. Hope I'm wrong.
