What's this I am hearing on 910 AM in BR?

Could it be the ghost of WLCS/WXAM/WNDC/WUBR?

Could it be operating one_day_only under an STA?

And -- with a hat-tip to Limbaugh's "Barnacle Brothers" ad -- will it still be on by the time you read this?

The Station now called WUBR, is moving from a 4 tower set up to a 2 tower set up NW of their current setup (actually from what I'm gathering it's 1.2 km or so NW of where they wanted to set up)

It's been under STA (special temporary Authority) to be off the air while the station rebuilds because apparently they lost the other site..

They are going up to 1.2kw daytime but 51 watts apparently at night

So they may be testing some new gear or just keeping the license active.....

Please forgive me as I can read the FM/TV data better than I can the AM data (as the tower is the antenna and how you locate and put power to that tower in relation to the other is what makes the directional signal)

But here is the proposed pattern after setup

Looks like it may reach out and touch someone. Wonder what the format will be?

I was at WLCS/WQXY twice from '78 - '81, and as I recall WLCS was non-directional 1kW day, and 1kW directional at night. How can 50W non-directional at night be worthwhile? It might cover beautiful downtown Scottlandville, but not much more.

Gene Nelson was a good man, and one of the few I'd work for again. How I'd love to hear him tell me "Hey, daddy!" just one more time.

AND its going from a Class B to Class D, which means bye bye to any nighttime protection. They don't show ANY nighttime interference free coverage of Baton Rouge itself....how could the FCC allow that? I havent looked at the old pattern but its a shame they dont keep it at 1KW unlimited w/ 4 towers...of course with land becoming a premium for AMs, this will be a growing trend.......(unless they own the land already)...
If the new site has been built, they could be testing it now....they have to do a complete proof of the array before they can apply for license to cover...(which means a number of guys running around with field strength meters making sure the pattern is as its supposed to be)
