I noticed today they were playing currents, and very few classic rock tracks. I guess the stations second incarnation has come full circle again. classic rock---->mainstream rock-----> active rock
 
It was never a true classic rocker as Jason Ginty has been playing a lot of 5-10 year old recurrants.. something not normally heard on a classic rocker, but apparently started new rock in the mix Saturday at midnight but apparently from yes.net it started Saturday as a mainstream but has gone more active in the last two days

Judging by the playlist, it sounds like a good station. Will check it out this weekend when visiting family in the Lafayette area. Just the competition Planet needs to make them spruce things up a bit! Still the same old stale recurrents from when I was at ULL prior to graduation in May 2003. ???
 
A few years ago, Citadel(when they owned 105.9) attempted to go nearly H2H with Regent alternative KFTE when they branded 105.9 "Extreme Rock".

KFTE is fairly close to active rock for employing an "alternative" format designation.

Interesting that KRDJ would steer more toward active rock, but not that surprising. Their attempt at CR made me want to listen to ZMZ more. There were times when RDJ's flow was whacked. So now, when a listener gets tired of Planet they have another button in 93.7. They may have a better time on the street selling this format versus trying to go against Eagle 98.1...
 
KRDJ was never a true classic rock station in the since that most classic rock stations end their playlist at roughly 1995 or 1997 (Usually to include one of Sammy Hagar or Shreveport native Kenny Wayne Sheperd's first two albums).

KRDJ went as far as roughly 5 years ago and it's natural just to move it up in age to today as many other classic rock stations are apparently doing in markets that have two or more classic rockers.

KZMZ doesn't know what it wants as one month we hear a song from 2005 (from a non classic rock group) then the next month won't play newer than the mid 1990s. If they want to be classic rock they need to get consistent on what they call classic rock.

KFTE surprised me a few weeks ago playing the non modern rock track Rock N' Roll train by AC/DC so as independent radio said, it's going away from alternative to a active/modern rock hybrid that I hear sometimes also.

Also forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't 105.9 extreme rock more active than FTE which was still firmly planted in Modern rock/alternative at the time?
 
KRXE was straight up active rock and heavier than 'the Planet' and overly pointed it out in its liners bashing the planet. Another thing of note is that 93.7 seems to have dropped Opie and Anthony, and no signs of Jason Ginty as well. I think they may have shown him the door. Things just seem to be on auto pilot over there.
