What's this song/lyric about?

Couple here...

1: In Toby Keith's new song, American Ride, why would one get busted singing Christmas Carols? What's the reference?

2: (This one is a point of mild contention betwixt my wife and me) Who does the main character sleep with in Garth Brooks' That Summer? I think it's the other person he's out there working with. My wife thinks it's the old lady who owns the place (EWW!).

Whatever help you can provide would be grand! Feel free to add your own too.

Thanks.

1) Can't help there.
2) What other person he's out there working with? I only see two characters. The lonely widow woman and the speaker.

Ahh a quick search of lyricwiki.org shows I was mistaken. There is no other character. I thought the lyrics said "I went to work with her that summer, teenage kids who were far from home..."

It actually says "I went to work for her that summer, a teenage kid so far from home..."

Thanks, PT!

Still wonder then about that Toby lyric.

Timmy,

I think Toby's song is referring to the way that "Christmas" is now being replaced with "winter." For example, we used to have 2 weeks off from school for Christmas holidays. That's now called "winter" holidays.

Can't be singing Christmas carols with the name "Jesus" in them. That's his real point.

I think you've got something there. Later in the song he says "plasma's getting bigger, Jesus getting smaller..." Thanks for that insight!
