What's this?!....

Listening to this...

http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/134091/womc-mp3.html

What's that mess b4 the DJ starts speaking?... Is it that way on the air or just on streaming?... All CBS stations that I heard have that "feature" almost 1 secosnd between spots, messy transitions...
Are the commercial breaks specific for web or are they common to the airwaves?...

The context of the question: I'm portuguese, in Portugal, listening to american radios, trying to like them.

Either I am too impatient or the link you gave is not downloading.  Watching the lights on my router,  I don't think the file was being delivered.

Anyway...  the CBS stations that I have tried to listen to on the web do have a pretty rough-and-rowdy sound.  Because of union contracts with the talent doing the commercials,  they "chop-out" a lot of material and splice in other program content that does not run up the talent fees.  It is an awkward sounding feed,  I must agree.

As you can tell from the conversation that takes place on these boards,  we have a variety of opinions in this country about what should be on the radio and how it should be delivered.  Our country has such a variety of peoples and we have grown up in differing community traditions so we have a radio dial filled with sounds that are puzzling to us!  They must be ever more puzzling to someone like yourself from another nation, another culture, another tradition.

Welcome to our conversations.

Thanks GRC

About the download you'll have to be patiente and wait till the countdown finishes...
Sorry but perhaps I missed something: are CBS web commercials the same as the airwave ones? Or does CBS streaming have an independent traffic? I hear the same spots on several streams from different radios. By the way lots of them sound like snakeoil marketing...

And just a quick note: CBS streaming is the best cluster stream I've heard untill now...

Sorry I did not state more clearly what I was saying. The mainstream of the program content on the Internet is identical to what is on the air, but that portion of the programming which gives them legal problems under their union contracts with "the talent" and replaced on the Internet with what can best be described as FILLER material.

The cut-aways and the rejoins are apparently computer controlled and are not very smooth. I am a fan of WGN in Chicago (NOT ad CBS station) and they do the same thing. To my ear it tends to be quite disruptive.

At some hours the programming apparently does not match what is on the air. If consists of "podcast" bits from other hours of the day.
