What's up in Milwaukee?

I live in Lake Geneva, WI, (about 40 miles SW of Milwaukee). I've noticed that I could no longer get HD reception of some of the Milwaukee stations, such as:

WTMJ-AM 620
WHAD-FM 90.7
WRIT-RM 95.7
WMYX-FM 99.1
WKKV-FM 100.7

Yesterday, I went to Milwaukee on business. I took my Zune HD. I still couldn't get HD on these stations. (I know, the Zune HD doesn't have AM)

I also know that WKKV is on their auxiliary tower while they get a new tower at their main location in Raymond, WI. That explains them.

I'm just wondering what has happened to these stations in the last week or so.

I've noticed weaker than usual reception into Lake County, IL from Milwaukee stations as well - including many that you've listed and more. It's been noticeable for the last few days - ever since I returned from a trip at the end of last week. I can often get HD from 99.1 and usually on 100.7 at my new place; no dice lately on 99.1 and (of course) 100.7 is all but gone.

My guess has been funky atmospheric conditions as I still get signals from Chicago, the western suburbs and even Rockford (WZOK) as usual. Whatever is happening on analog is likely downgrading digital signals as well.

As I check right now, from Lake Geneva, WTMJ, WHAD & WMYX are back in full HD. WRIT is still analog-only. I'm using my Sony HD radio with an amplified vertical dipole.

I wouldn't expect WKKV to be HD until their new tower is up.
