What's up in Seattle?

How about "93.7 the Groove - the Washington Coast's station to relax and unwind." (Smooth Jazz) Think Bill could do that? It works in ABQ at 103.7 The Oasis...

8? I can only count 7, and of those only 4 could be considered viable as Seattle stations, and only 2 are actually targeting Seattle. We've got KMPS and KKWF which serve the metro, but that's about it. KANY, though able to serve as a Seattle rimshot, is still targeting the coast, and KAPS serves the north end with a decent signal into Seattle's northern subburbs, but that's not where the audience is. Of the others, KGY-FM's signal doesn't make it viable to target Seattle, and KXXK and KMNT are only DX signals in most of the Seattle market.

From what I can gather, pretty much every community in this region has assess to a country music radio station. Even if the community only has one radio station, it seems like that station is most likely to be country. I guess country music accounts for the most popular music format, even if we live in Washington. My observations are far from scientific, though ;)

KMPS, KKWF, KAPS, CJJR, KANY, KGY, KXXK, KMNT. That is 8. And out of those 8, only KMPS has been logged here in Yakima. But we are saturated with country as well.

They can try to push country music as much as they want. However, there will always be people who just do not want to listen to it. People around my age are all very into modern country music, though. The radio conglomerates must be doing SOMETHING right...

I think the radio CEO's and regional owners got together to talk about music formats...

"We must make sure that crainbebo CANNOT listen to smooth jazz over the air. And fordranger797? He can be doomed to streaming his AAA from Portland over the web." I bet they wish they could block the out of town signals so we are doomed to choosing between "Luke Bryan", "Fleetwood Mac", or "Katy Perry".
