What's up in Williston?

I was dialing around Friday and happened to land on 101.1 FM KDSR. The first thing that was sounding odd was the music. It was an eclectic mixture of mostly 80's metal & CHR. Then I heard Benny Cole on the station and he ID'ed as Hot 101. It was my understanding that Benny was let go as morning guy about a month ago. Later that evening, as I was heading west, I listened for a while and it was back to "Coyote Country". Is management letting Benny play with the format that much on a Friday afternoon and then go back to country?

It'll be interesting to see what is on the air Monday.

Well I found out what's up with KDSR. They're in the midst of a format change to Hot 101, playing the Basin's best rock. It's going to be a large playlist from what I understand. Mostly of the Sammy Hagar, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Warrant, Poison type of rock & roll...a lot of hair bands.

Randy Michaels is signing on at 7am and going until noon and Benny Cole is back as operations manager & sports director and holding down Noon to 6pm. The airshifts will probably change in the near future as sales is built up. A larger sales staff has been hired.

By sometime next week, the software should be in place so that the format is 24/7, but for right now it's a weird rock by day, country at night hybrid.
