What's Up with 94 WIP?

I know they're a new station, but it seems like every time I tune into that station, I hear their jingles, like "Now on the biggest FM signal in Philadelphia", or their regular jingle "Sports Radio 94 WIP", I hear them every 5 seconds. We all know their here so do they really have to do that?

Back in the 90's, during Flyers games, they would run a 3-second WIP jingle at the start and end of every commercial break. Particularly bad for us. We were a Flyers affiliate station, carrying the games from the Pennsylvania Network. Our satellite went down for a couple of weeks and we had to carry the games using a radio. Thank goodness we had a good board op who made sure our own 3-second jingle ran in its place. But why the need to run the jingle in the first place?

WTMI (now WCCC AM) in West Hartford, Connecticut used to carry the Connecticut Sun WNBA basketball team, picking up the games from News-Talk 102.3 WXLM (now News-Talk 980 WXLM). You'd hear something about News-Talk 102.3 WXLM and that would be abruptly cut-off mid-sentence with "WTMI West Hartford - AM 1290 Beethoven Radio".

Then during the New England Patriots Games there was the long winded Network Announcer: "You're listening to the WBCN New England Patriots Rock Radio Network. LOCAL Announcer: "On 93.7 The 70s Station and News-Sports 910 CNN".

On 97.3 ESPN South Jersey was listening to the Eagles game, you heard Merrill Reese say "This is the Eagles Radio Network, on 94 WYSP". They always missed cutting off "on 94 WYSP"
