What's up with 98.9's audio?

Could it be STL issues? I am pretty sure Radio One does an RF Hop to the WBNS tower site from E 1st Ave.

haven't listened, but did they ever finish the conversion to digital on that transmitter, if so, it could be the digital exciter, they occasionally need a reboot, and they sound much like the description! There is also the digital hop to twin rivers, so either could be bad. I've also seen digital processors, and automation systems do the same thing, so, someone should just reboot everything, and see what happens.

You would think they would hear it at the studio, if it was the automation, though...

Has this been remedied yet? I'm out of town for a week so all I can hear is the stream (which sounds the same as usual). I would hope this isn't due to simple negligence, but if so then what a boneheaded way to try to establish the station!

Maybe this is just a coincidence, but a short time ago they played a listener montage that ended with a guy saying something along the lines of, "So either there's a problem or you just don't care anymore." (I forget the exact words.) And I don't get the impression it was a former Urban AC listener.

Man, you would think they(RO) would have this fixed by now. After all they just started an all local news radio station in Houston a couple
of weeks ago and that is a very expensive operation. So, they must have staff available to fix this issue.

This is even worse audio then WWCD on 102.5 at it's worse.

The only station that may have had worse audio was WVKO-AM during it's one year stint as a progressive talk radio station. It was LMA at that
time by a different operator then now.
That was really bad audio for at least several months back then. They were using some kind of internet fed back then in 2007.
