Whats up with the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT on the HERD?

Any thoughts? I'm sure as is typical these days it will be the addition of an affiliate that NO ONE cares about or the addition of a road show.... BUT, does anyone have any info??

On a side note, I'm a big Colin guy but since I've been listening a TON more recently I've realized that he is much much more abrasive than I ever thought!

Colin is a medium market broadcaster miscast on a national show. For fun, track how many times he makes the same point over the course of a specific segment.

NEUTRAL!! BINGO!!!

Instead of quickly re-setting an earlier take... he will give the same take over and over.
Not to say I don't listen ::) just something I notice as well!!

Guess we'll have to wait about an hour to see the annonucement... my guess... either getting the show aired on espn2 because they have NOTHING on during the day OR possibly the show going on the road.

On today's show, Colin said that The Herd would change in the following ways:
* Video of the show broadcast on ESPN's website (I think it should be broadcast on the ESPNews cable TV channel).
* New Herd website that is more interactive for listeners to make comments about the show, and he can comment on listener comments
* Would have more hot chicks and interesting personalities on the show.

I agree that Colin repeats things too often on the show.

But yeah, you never hear nationally-syndicated hosts repeat things on air. [Note - sarcasm alert!, tongue firmly planted in cheek]

Every radio show host ends up repeating themselves - even nationally-sydicated ones - when you have to fill 3 hours every day, 5 days a weeks, 52 weeks a year.

As having been a Sporting News affiliate and, now, an ESPN affiliate I have the opportunity to hear a lot of Colin's program and believe he is one of the best because he brings an honest approach to his topics. He tells it as he sees it and it seems he's always put some thought into his commentary on various issues. He's not only knowledgable about sports, but can speak intelligently on many different topics. Not everyone agrees with his opinions but he just seems to make sense most of the time.

Due to the fact that people are tuning-in and tuning-out, most national hosts, as well as local, must repeat or re-introduce their topic to the audience on a periodic basis in order for someone new tuning-in to be able to understand what's going on.

I don't envy these hosts as they have 3 or 4 hours to fill 5 days a week and keep things moving and interesting for a nationwide audience. I've been associated with broadcasting for nearly 40-years now and have a great respect for anyone who can, each day, handle those tasks.

I really don't listen to Cowherd but when I have I really don't like his know it all end all be all on college football.
