What's up with The Walf?

Guess I'm really seeing their commercial for the first time on the CMA Awards tonight (I know-I know, they've been on for a while, but I don't watch much TV), but what is up with the way they pronounce Wolf? It's like golf with a "W". Weird! I think I'd have had them recut the audio. No one I know would pronounce it like that. And, I still don't get the whole concept of going up against WTQR with nothing very different. Hate to start a whole new topic, but I just had to comment on The Walf! ???

Their voice is John Willyard, who also voices the CMA's!
