What's Up with WZON's newscasts??

Has anyone besides me caught the fact that as of this afternoon, WZON had been repeating the same local newscasts for past three days? It certainly was odd. Makes me wonder where things are heading up on Broadway Hill.

You'd think with WKIT being "live and local" so much that someone would pay attention to the AM at some point, I mean there is always someone in the studio so they say...

Don Morgon was on a well deserved vacation Annie, who normally does afternoon news ,did the morning news for WZON and WZLO. The afternoon news was assigned to a part news stringer who in hindsight, was not the best choice. That's my fault.
As far as our news department goes, I would put them up against anyone in the state.
Thanks for listening
Bobby Russell

Bobby, thanks for enlightening us. I was very surprised, because I agree with your statement that WZON's news department has always been excellent --- one of the three best in the state, I would say, right along with MPBN and WGAN. Now that it's straightened out, keep on keeping on!

Bobby -

Props to you for stepping up to explain and taking the bullet. Major props given that personal responsibility is seriously lacking in today's CYA-mentality world. I don't know you but I look forward to buying you a beer some day. Well done. Keep that up and even if you don't win awards and make beaucoups bucks - you'll be able to sleep at night knowing you did the right thing. Well played. (me tipping my cap)

You're a stand-up guy in an industry sorely lacking in that department, Bobby.

Right now I don't feel like a "stand up guy"...more like a "fill in guy" for the SAME part timer who didn't show up for a Sunday morning show.....Paying the coat to be the boss!

Bobby,
If it makes you feel any better, a certain local owner was out setting clocks last night, and gets to work there again today. I sympathize, and you know the saying "Good help.....

Echoing Chuck's sentiments Bobby...kudos for stepping up. In my day, that part timer that stiffed you not once, but twice, would no longer be a part timer (at least at the station). Not telling you your job, just feeling your pain. File it under: Been there, done that.
