What's with 106.5

Driving to work this am, I found some Spanish station on 106.5, which has always been KMMT's signal out of Mammoth Lakes. What gives? KMMT is one of the few stations that remains free-form FM. All that's missing are some wind chimes and we're back in early days of FM rock.

Has someone set up a translator to ruin my commute to work?

It appears from their Facebook they're having some technical difficulties with the FM transmission.

Agreed, KMMT is always an eclectic and enjoyable listen. Lots of good independent music.

I'm picking up KMMT, not as good as usual though, and they didn't switch formats.

I did hear the spanish station over KMMT driving around today, did hear KMMT mixing in while driving, is this Spanish language 106.5 just one of those tropic conditions from miles away or a new station much closer, say some LP station?

I always liked KMMT "Alternative" type of format, followed them for years even back in the 80s when they were on 106.3, they always had an all request Friday night Classic Rock show play rare songs not usually heard on the typical Classic Rock station, I even called in and they played my request back then. they always sort of reminded me of KFOG 104.5 SF or KPIG 94.9 Cambria.

Something is there mixing with KMMT and the class A Spanish station in Taft. Hellfire preaching in Spanish. At first I thought the Spanish was Taft but Taft is not a religious station and there were two Spanish stations mixing with KMMT as I drove around a bit. Nothing else listed on Radio Locator on 106.5 that could possibly be getting in here like this. Seems strongest on south end of town.

So I tune in about 10:45 determined to wait for an ID at TOH. At 11:07 the audio drops out to silence for about 30-40 seconds. And then back to Espanol. No ID to be heard.
