WHAT'S WITH ALL THESE LOTTERY COMMERCIALS ?

The boardroom kids, fire goat, actor man........... is it really necessary to remind people to
go out and buy lottery tickets?
Maybe they should use some of this commercial money and
put it into college educations instead.

I thought the kids commercial was cute, untill I saw it 500 times. The goat is so so. The actor man
is pure poo poo.

Could this be the media's rebate from the lottery corporation????? Can't bite the hand that feeds U.

I'd gamble that they build in a pretty good budget for TV and radio ads.  The budget is locked in at certain percentages - 50% prize pool, 30% education, 5% to the retailer. The other 15% is marketing and administrative.

It's written into the lottery legislation that they can advertise only on Georgia stations.  I worked for a cluster that found that out by accident.  We did a frequency swap across state lines.  When the lottery people found out we let a spot air on a station with a city-of-license in Alabama, they freaked out about it, even though the stations we swapped were targeting two totally different audiences.  All of the traffic logs had to be amended.

So if the highest rated station in a market has a city of license in any of the border states, the lottery won't buy it no matter the format or demographic.

Seems to be a crazy formula. It's not like they are competing with another lottery company.

It's more like the Dekalb county water system running adds...........why bother? IMO a waste
of funds that could better be used elsewhere.

The local TV and radio stations doesn't care because it brings in revenue for the sales department. I do find it amusing and interesting to see and/or hear a lottery ad, but it is what it. This is nothing unique because a number of other states with educational lotteries does the same.
