SYSTEM UPDATE.

"if it aint broke, dont fix it" is definitly NOT the motto of the Engineering staff. everytime they do an update on the system, it goes nuts for a few days.

It's not the CC Engineers. It's the idiotic guys at Prophet Systems in Nebraska that write the new software. Every time they try to fix or upgrade with a new version they screw up 4 other things in the system. It frustrates engineers and jocks all over the company.

Why doesn't Clear Channel just wise-up and let the engineers and jocks
screw up on their own and save the money they pay Prophet Systems? The
listeners sure don't give a care anyway? What's one more screw up more
or less?

Doesn't Clear Channel own Prophet? If so, they really wouldn't be saving anything, as getting rid of Prophet would hurt one of their own divisions. What they really need to do is move Prophet out of Ogalalla (the town in NE) to a place where they're less secluded and more accountable. Perhaps working under the microscope in San Antonio would help.

Clear Channel is hated, and for good reason, but you know, not all of it's employees are bad. A lot of them worked for someone else when CC bought up the world. They hate what's happened to the industry and most still try to do the best job they can. I personally can't stand what companies like CC and Infinity are doing to the business, but you can't lump all the employees together and say they suck. As for Prophet, I think they like being secluded. They don't want oversight from San Antonio. They also have never come up with a good guide on paper for running the Prophet software. Main reason is to keep their jobs. They would lose employees who come in to set up and train at the stations. That being said, it's not such a bad system with the exception of how it can take a jock's job. No hard drive based system is perfect and face it, just about everyone is moving in the direction of being on one.
