Whats with Mike & Mike and Steelers/Cubs

Is it me, or for a national show Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic talk more Pittsburgh Steeler football and Chicago Cub baseball than any other team.

Put it this way, more often than not their roadtrips are to Chicago or Pittsburgh and most of the time the talk surrounds Cubs and Steelers issues.

Also they overhype the last few Steeler playoff runs by playing various "One For The Thumb" songs, despite the fact that those songs represent the waning days of the Steel Curtain era team, now over 20 years ago!

Just an odditiy I've been noticing over the last 4 years of Mike & Mike in NYC

In Chicago, the Cubs are the most popular baseball team. Even though the White Sox have a better record right now, Chicago is a Cubs town. In the Windy City the popularity goes something like this: Bears, Cubs, Bulls/Sox depending on the time of year and who is doing better then finally the Blackhawks. Mike & Mike also get good ratings on WMVP. In Pittsburgh, the Sttelers are THE topic of conversation as the Pens are locked out and if you have ever seen a Pirates game on TV, the empty seats at PNC Park is proof of their popularity.

Does it matter what that lame show talks about? All they do is promote the company fed garbage and Greeny is the perfect lap-dog for Disney: safe, unfunny, wimpy and another hair-do who's happy to be there.

There is a place for that...just not to the degree that ESPN and Disney do it.

Does it matter what that lame show talks about?

Yes it does. Too much talk about certain cities loses ratings outside of those cities. One reason this show..and ESPN Radio itself has been on four different stations here in Tampa Bay.

And...this differs from the rest of the ESPN radio programming in what way, exactly?

GREENBERG is from Chicago and he used to do sports radio there so that explains the Cubs...I don't know anything about the other guy & Pittsburgh.
FYI, Dan Zampillo, formerly Chicago sports radio
