What's with WNYH 740?

I've been spot-checking them off-and-on since the day after they signed back on.

What it sounds like, is that they have a 3-CD changer in the studio. They have ONE custom-burned CD which has all instrumental hymns on it, and two short liner/ID's which alternate. It is the same 3 CD's playing over and over and over. The first week, one CD was George Beverly Shea and some other. The next week, someone changed two of them. Now one is foreign language hymns. (GB Shea is gone.)

Does ANYONE know what the deal is? Are they going to be playing "Sacred Music" as a permenent format? Is this just what the Engineer prefers? Is it the Engineer's voice on those liner/ID's? (It sounds like an older man.) It's been the same thing for three weeks, now. Let's just say that it's gone BEYOND old & stale. ;)

ANY info would be appreciated. They have an absolutely "killer" signal here in CT, with over 5mv measured in Milford and West Haven.

I heard them today on My walkman and on my GE SuperRadio 3 in Southington, CT. What language is that in the music with the "singing"? And since the music they are playing are hymms (how about hers? lol. ok bad joke) that expalins the calls. WNYH = New York's Hymms.

Hi Willie!

Thery were "testing" again last week when I was going home from WVCH. The power level this time didn't sound like 20 kW, but they were still walloping Toronto in spots on I-476.

More Likely WNYH = New York Huntington. They're probably playing hymns during testing because there's no copyright or music licensing fees to worry about.

I don't think that's entirely true. It's possible that the songs may have copyrighted ARRANGEMENTS. The most likely candidates for that being the G.B. Shea hymns.

I really wish SOMEONE would give us some more information about this station.

It's been three MORE weeks since my last post, and they are STILL playing the same three CD changer. (G.B. Shea is back, with the foreign hymns, and the instrumentals with the alternating station ID)

I've heard them on the air before sunrise at full (or almost full) power several times, also. They finally have coverage maps on RADIO-LOCATOR.COM

Any info would be appreciated. Does anyone know? Speak up! :)
