What's worse than one pirate station on 107.9?

TWO pirate stations on 107.9!
One seems to be from Newark, the other seems to be from Brooklyn. The Brooklyn pirate is Caribbean, the Newark pirate is hip hop and reggae. They interfere with each other in most of northern NJ. I used to reliably get WEBE 108 until the first pirate (Brooklyn) went on the air. It's safe to assume both will be on the air for years.

whats funny is that pirate on 107.9 is caribbeanzoneradio.com and it's from ELIZABETH. I know someone who was a guest at that station that is a promoter for nightclubs in the area, but has no clue it's a pirate nor wont believe me, and now he's promoting for that station in elizabeth nightclubs.

I wonder if they could fit a licensed 100 watt LPFM in Elizabeth if WBLS agrees.

First, no commercial broadcaster is going to voluntarily agree to more competition. That's just nuts. That's why the NAB has been fighting LPFM tooth and nail and why we have these loopy "protection" requirements.

Second, it doesn't matter what BLS thinks. The rules would have to change to allow a new 107.9 there, and then it will be able to be approved whether BLS likes it or not.
