What's worse than "Spackle and Paste" on a Saturday AM?

The Best (HA!) of Tom " I knew nothing about that redistricting plan" Finneran!

They canned Moe for re runs?

where are all those corporations who are lining up to use WRKO to spread their message?

I can hear crickets...

OK back out and into the truck to finish plowing and it's time for Cha Chi and " Breakfast With The Beatles" on 100.7 WZLX!

7:00 AM over and out... 73's

finne-bull at 6, reeses pieces at 7 and ambien howie at 8...i guess this is equivalent of a music station going jockless and commercial-free after flipping to a new format...gotta blow out moe's 70+ audience...

When Entercom just can't be bothered with waiting around for Congress and the new Democratic administration to enact The Fairness Doctrine, they simply go out and fashion it themselves.

What you're seeing at WRKO is a homebrew Fairness Doctrine under construction.

What the hell are you talking about? The Democratically-controlled Congress already foolishly rejected reenacting the Fairness Doctrine.

Foolishly rejected the Fairness Doctrine? Last I checked we had the right of free speech. Its not up to the government to decide what is said - people can listen or change the station if they want.

If the Fairness Doctrine comes back it will be a major blow to AM and FM. Podcasts, XM, Sirius and Internet will be big winners. And if they try to regulate all of those - then talk shows need to resort to streaming from off shore? Sounds a little like the information starved Soviet citizens needing to tune in Voice of America. How ironic if we here in the USA ended up needing to tune in to Rush or Michael Savage on a web stream coming from Russia or eastern Europe to get around government censorship.

Kind of the perfect storm brewing for traditional broadcasting if all the garbage that has been floated in front of Congress comes to pass - performance rights fees, Fairness Doctrine plus some other revived 1970's era regulations.

Uh, they did that not because they don't want it...they did it because they're waiting for a Democrat in the White House.

Given your concern about free speech, by any chance were you at the Net Neutrality hearing last Monday here in town?

be sure to listen to the audio which has a comment by one of the placeholders.

I've never listened to Tommy Taxes (or RKO for that matter) since his first day, but looking at his numbers, I can't suspect a re-run of his show can't be doing better than Moe.

Reruns of Tommy Taxes...helllloooooo Mustard and Johnson!!!

These idiots at RKO are just beyond anything I've ever seen. They go from bad to worse on a regular basis.....fire Moe and do retreads, yeah, that's the ticket, that'll draw all kinds of listeners. They pulled this nonsense awhile ago, they used to run retreads of Howie's show on Saturday mornings before they hired that twit ellen o'brien. I thought coffee boy said people were lining up to advertise on RKO,,,,I guess that was a big fat lie.......hey coffee boy, why don't you bring back "Boston this Morning" and that other go getter program "A Taste of Boston Tonite", yep, those were two winners! And while you're at it why not give Whitey a gig, pair him up with the felon in the morning, that'll draw listeners, and while you're at it why not hook up judges somma and moses, dynamic perverts in the morning....you can replace that caffeine overloaded hip hop dj you've got now.....yeah, that'll work.

But it was Breakfast With the Beatles for me from 7 to 8 and it was more Beatles on WODS from 6 to 7 so no Howie for me...

No Moe, No WRKO

I assume the new guy snickers, ooops Reese was the 8 t0 9 guy.... I was out walking the dogs without the benefit of a walkman

WEEI has Bob Costas' syndicated show from 7-9 AM on Saturday mornings. Once you get past the point of how absolutely full of himself he is, it's not bad. He gets good guests and there's some funny stuff on there. One caveat is it's a week behind.

WRKO may have gone to informercials at 8; the http://www.wrko.com site lists, for "Sat March 8":

8:00AM 11:00AM Bill Kelly's Senior Safe Money Strategies
Now that I recall, there were some promos earlier this week urging people to tune in on Saturday morning
for a financial advice show for seniors.

I think they should run replays until 9:00 and then run Costas' show and be done with Mustard and Johnson. That would be a cost saving.

Let us all get this straight.

You've been monitoring hour by hour, a radio station you dislike and giving hourly updates on said station.

Can I ask the obvious, WHY???????

Most folks I know, including myself stop banging their heads against a wall...it hurts!

Yeah......THAT should really help out with WRKO's old-skewing demos. ;D

Maybe it would just be easier for Entercom to wash its hands of the place.

AM-680 K-Love, anyone?

costas has a very good program. of course, it pales in comparison to the show that immediately follows it on sat mornings. :D

How bout proposing a Saturday Radio Show, we'll call it, Cranky Ole Bastards.

A round table complaining about the state of todays radio, newspaper, auto industry and wonder why people don't shop downtown no more? :-\
