What's Wrong With Chris Mathews?

Chris Mathews has been off the air for nearly two weeks and the media has been silent as to his illness. Heard someone say that Mathews has diabetes and someone else say that Chris Mathews had a heart problem [ By-pass? ]

What is the real story behind the story?
 
He was hospitalized for some diabetes related illness. That's all I've read. I think he's out of the hospital, but not yet been allowed to return to work.

Personally, I can't stand his act and don't understand why he's so popular. But I hope he's okay and back on the air soon.
 
Our local station carrying the syndicated Chris Matthews Show has buried it the last three weeks in the middle of the night in what looks like to be a burning off the contract move, and running paid ads in its original Sunday morning timeslot.

Matthews finger to the wind opinion factory which relies on the same group of tired pundits who cannot get anything else right whose views change depending on who holds the strings of power (and gives them access and attention if they play nice) is hardly illuminating programming, despite the sheer quantity of it.
