What's wrong with K&M on WZLX? My opinion

I was so excited when K&M came to do mornings on WZLX. I had heard them before and really enjoyed their work. They used to make me "drive off the road" daily but since they have been with WZLX it seems like it's once a week, maybe.

I've concluded that on WZLX K&M are doing a watered down version of the kind of show that made them so good. I doubt that they would restrict themselves to this extent so who tied their hands? I sure miss all their cutting edge and outrageous humor. Even their K&M website is disappointing compared to what it used to be. Before K&M came to Boston I eagerly looked forward to visiting their web site several times a week. It's pretty dull and tame now. It's no longer a "must view". Same with their show. Still some glimpses of brilliance but overall it's pretty bland compared to what they are capable of doing. IMO cut them some slack and let them loose to do some great things in the morning.

How can 'ZLX expect K&M to get ratings and not allow them to do the kind of show they were brought to Boston to do?

I haven't listened to them in a long time, but they seemed like just another bland, 'we're laughing at our own jokes way too loud' morning show. ZLX has had a history of toning it down to be a 'soccer mom' station, you know "something you could listen to with the kids in the mini-van". If K&M are these wild and crazy 'shock jocks', I wonder why they were brought in in the first place. Seems to go against who ZLX is trying to court.

Of course, with the new PD (who I am told is not well liked in the halls for his very abrasive style) maybe they are trying to be a BCN light, as far as their tone goes. Thus "Staff/Staph" jokes on the web site.

IMO: won't work and their numbers will fall even further.

WZLX seems to be going more for the male guitar rock listeners than the soccer moms nowadays. WROR, WODS, WMJX, etc... are more the soccer mom stations for the demo. Of course, Charles used to appeal to male and female alike. Then, Sweeney, a nice guy and a good club comic, but just too low key for mornings on the radio. I'm not a fan of K&M for the same reasons LucyLu says above.

I don't like the new abrasive sounding "'tude" I'm hearing from most of the announcers on 'ZLX. Carter Alan, Chuck Nowlin, and Bill Abbate still sound about the same, but K&M and all the younger evening/weekend jocks seem to be trying way too hard to put on an attitude. They're talking down to the listeners. I'm guessing that's the new PD's effect. (As well as probably the "Hottie of the Day" feature that recently appeared on the website).

Whenever I listen I dont hear anything you would call cutting edge its usually a yuck fest like every morning show. Are they doing any ratings?

Were is that upstate New York someplace? Ive heard of it but I place where it is. IF it is a small market like that it takes less to be edgy dont you think?.
