What's Wrong with K104.7

Does anyone know what's happening with K104.7? They've lost Jon Robinson; the productions all over the board, very lose programming. A 25 market share station sounding more and more like college radio. Who's running that station anyway? Holly fill us in, you've been there the longest, you should have some insight as to what's going on. You and the new afternoon girl Bialy seem to be the only ones with real personality. Morning drive and nites...wow talk about two time slots in need of some serious improvements, flat and boring personality. Hopefully they'll get some real talent in there it's a shame they don't have it already

I can only say so much, but nothing aggravates me more than watching a station with potential losing grip. I have been there since 99 and in the biz for over 20 years now. Corporate radio did a number on localism and personality....I know management has tied hands at the time and without getting in to things I would change, I will just say that I go in, do my job and go home...I don't offer advice anymore as it falls on deaf ears.
But with that said, I know exactly all you are referring to and talking about. I can at least say I was once with good company and raw talent. Thankfully I am still friends with all my former colleagues and competitors. Radio, if nothing else, is and always will be a close knit family.

I still don't understand why K104.7 is treated the way it is. It has huge potential, IMO. They need a solid morning show 6-10, mid-day host 10-3, afternoons 3-7....I don't really care for the way they have the shifts scheduled. New jingles and imaging would work wonders. CBS needs to invest some money and it would probably pay off.

You were sounding good, last I heard Holly.

They need Boozer!

Wonder if he'll mess up at Star 92.1 like he did all his other stations? If so, K-104.7 should get him back!

Te one good thing about the station other than Christmas music is those people singing the call letters. Not right for the format, but I do like them.

Actually, the last couple of times I've been in a mall or business where the station was playing, it hasn't been all that bad for someone with my musical taste. If not for some of the loud stuff played at night it could be a "soft AC".

Yes, I know, most of you are discussing personalities. I like a jukebox. Jeff Rollins on my favorite pop station (satellite) has a nice style and he doesn't talk too much.

Could CBS be ready to make a format change? They are looking into Sports and New/Talk in a number of markets and they cannot be happy with the results they are getting now. CBS also has a strong tie to Classic Hits (oldies) so there could easily be some format changes coming soon to a CBS station in your neighborhood.

I'll say this. With all the mess on Lite, I haven't heard it used for background in respectable offices in a long time. Most places moved to K-104.7. Now I don't know the specific reason ...

They have both. Sports 610 WFNZ; News Talk 1660 WBCN

I think everyone is overlooking the fact that K-104.7 is not a ratings loser. Far from it they usually are either a little ahead of or behind WLYT. K is the perfect ratings foil and gives CBS an A/C format to sell.

With all their other stations K doesn't have to win, just have respectable numbers and not cost them a lot of money to promote or operate. No matter what we think about it there are listeners who think the station is okay as it is.

WKQC does not need Boozer. That era is over. How many people other than radio geeks would even remember who he is?

The morning shows on both K and Lite really only run until 8:30 then it's non stop music to start the workday.
