Whats wrong with the younger end?

Oh, one more thing. Hot 103.1 was NOT a poorly-programmed radio station. Glenn Turner deserves some big props. Remember, Hot had more than twice GMR's audience; and an impartial observer would probably say that the last (fall) book was a "down fluke" for CHR in State College. Hot had a significant/large audience. And it wasn't "unsellable." It just didn't get "sold." In other words, the AEs just didn't do it--for all sorts of reasons. The point being... if GMR needs a CHR model, they should probably take a good strong look at what WJHT was doing. And then do it. AMF.

They should have made selling it a higher priority. It certainly wasn't unsellable. If they would have stopped bonusing it along with other buys, thus de-valuing the product, they might not have painted themselves into the corner. They could have put added incentives on selling Hot, or any number of things.

In terms of sales dollars, I don't think they've gained a thing by simulcasting Froggy, and they've lost a whole station full of avails.

Walk up and down Beaver Avenue on any day of your choice. See those little white things in everyone's ears? They are ears that aren't listening to radio. Go into their dorm rooms and see what the speakers are plugged into. 50/50 its their computer/laptop. If not its a stereo system their iPod plugs into. Ditto their cars. Why do you think VW, BMW and most aftermarkets have an AUX input? For their iPod, of course. Heck in a Mini the high end stereo has a plug for the iPod and Sirius radio too.

Hear any radio stations in Starbucks these days? How about Panera or even Sheetz?

They don't listen because they don't need us anymore. Why listen to what everyone else wants to hear when you can listen to what you want to hear all of the time and not have to tolerate the commericals??

Forget the arguments about what 24 year olds buy, that's 1995. Why would you try and capture an audience that isn't listening?
